Sir John Elliott – Regius Professor of Modern History (now History) Emeritus, University of Oxford. Balzan Prizewinner. Honorary Fellow of Trinity College and former University Lecturer in History. Ms Hilary Mantel – Author. Man Booker prizewinner in 2009 and 2012. Professor Jonathan Spence – Sterling Professor of History Emeritus, Yale University. Former Reith Lecturer and Jefferson Lecturer. Honorary Fellow of Clare College. Mr Mario Vargas Llosa – Writer. Nobel Laureate in Literature. Honorary Fellow of Churchill College and former Simón Bolívar Professor in Latin American Studies.


The Chancellor, Lord Sainsbury of Turville, today conferred Honorary Degrees on eight distinguished individuals at a congregation in the Senate House.
